The 4th round of the Portuguese Cup will not miss Académica. The students lost 3-0 at Estádio do Fontelo against Ac. Viseu and are out of the 2020/2021 Portuguese Cup.
Set pieces made the difference in the first half. The "central" Pica advanced the viseenses, at 20 ′, giving the best sequence to a corner beaten by Yuri Araújo. The second of the formation of the city of Viriato was not long in coming, with Ayongo, at 23 ′, following a free-kick taken by Yuri Araújo taking advantage of a disagreement between Daniel Azevedo – bad exit from goal – and Bouldini, for left foot do the 2-0.
In the second part, the students were unable to counter the management of the home team, which increased the advantage after the 64th minute. In a move created by the right flank of the attack by Pedro Duarte's team, full-back Tiago Mesquita crossed to the entrance of the area where Ayongo appeared, shooting first into the bottom of the net and leaving the result 3-0. Until the end of the challenge, despite the changes made by Rui Borges, the academy formation failed to beat goalkeeper Ricardo Fernandes. Ac. Viseu, who reached the semi-finals of the competition last season (he was eliminated by the winner of the trophy, FC Porto), stamped the passage to the round of 16.
With this elimination, Briosa leaves the “queen race” and starts to focus on the 2nd League. The students' next appointment will be at Casa Pia. The 12th round match is scheduled for 2:00 pm on Sunday, December 20, at the Cidade de Coimbra Stadium.
