The evolution of the situation at covid-19 forced the Coimbra Football Association to suspend the holding of senior district football and futsal competitions scheduled for this weekend. The decision is based on the Decree of Law of the Council of Ministers, approved yesterday and which, among other measures, decided: “to extend to the municipalities at high risk the ban on driving on public roads from 1:00 pm on the weekend of 9 and January 10 ”and“ apply to the entire continental national territory the prohibition of movement between municipalities between 11 pm on 8 January and 5 am on 11 January 2021, except for health reasons, urgent urgency or other specifically foreseen ”.
“Analyzing yesterday's Decree of Law of the Council of Ministers, which forbids circulation between municipalities, there will be no games on Saturday and Sunday”, the president of the Football Association of Coimbra (AFC), Horácio Antunes, assumed at DIÁRIO AS BEIRAS. "All competitions organized by the AFC for this weekend are suspended," said the director. According to Horácio Antunes, today a statement will be issued to confirm to clubs the postponement of the meetings.
It should be remembered that this weekend football matches were scheduled for the AFC Honor Division, the 1st AFC Division and the U21 District Trophy. Sunday would be marked by the inaugural round of futsal competitions overseen by the AFC, the Men's Honor Division and the Women's Honor Division.
The decision on future competitions days will be taken after Prime Minister António Costa's meeting next Tuesday with epidemiologists at Infarmed, a session that could lead the Government to decree a new confinement.
