The Portuguese international Cristiano Ronaldo is one of the finalists in the race for the best footballer awards of the year and the century of Globe Soccer Awards, announced today the organization of the event, which is scheduled for December 27.
The Juventus striker, who won the best player award in the last four years, after being awarded in 2011 and 2014, will face competition from Argentine Lionel Messi, FC Barcelona, and Polish Robert Lewandowski, from Bayern de Munich.
Ronaldo and Messi are also among the contestants for the trophy of the best footballer of the century – between 2001 and 2020 -, together with the Egyptian Mohamed Salah (Liverpool) and with the former Brazilian international Ronaldinho.
In the category of best club of the year, compete for Liverpool, English champion after 30 years, Real Madrid, Spanish champion, and Bayern Munich, German champion who won the last edition of the Champions League.
Moreover, Liverpool coaches Jürgen Klopp (winner in 2019) and Bayern coach Hans-Dieter Flick will fight Atalanta's Italian Gian Piero Gasperini for the best coach award in 2020.
The Portuguese Jose Mourinho, now in charge of Tottenham, he is part of the quartet of finalists for the best coach of the century, together with Spaniard Pep Guardiola, Frenchman Zinedine Zidane and Scotsman Alex Ferguson, who has already retired, while the best club of the century award delivered to Al-Ahly (Egypt), Real Madrid (Spain), Bayern Munich (Germany) or FC Barcelona (Spain).
In the category of best sports agent of the year, Portuguese Jorge Mendes returns to be among the candidates, having won nine of the 10 editions of the award. Italians Giovanni Branchini and Mino Raiola (winner in 2016) are the other finalists.
The 11th gala of the Globe Soccer Awards, which has been held since 2010, is scheduled for December 27, in Dubai.
