The Portuguese Filipe Albuquerque (Acura) won today 24 Hours of Daytona, the first race of the North American endurance championship, the IMSA, in the debut by the Wayne Taylor Racing team.

The driver from Coimbra, who was in charge of the final driving shift, beat Japanese Kamui Kobayashi (Cadillac) for 4.704 seconds, and Briton Harry Tincknell (Mazda) for 6.562 seconds.

This was the second overall victory of the Portuguese driver, who in 2018 had won together with Porto's João Barbosa, who today was the runner-up in the LMP3 class, in a Ligier.
