The 14th edition of Youth Basketball Party, which would take place in Albufeira between April 3 and 7, was canceled due to the pandemic of Covid-19.
Although there is no show on the field, solidarity has not been canceled and the social support initiative that marked the event, the “Basket Solidário”, is back on track, now with the proceeds being donated to the National Health Service ( SNS). “Based on the idea of the“ Basket Solidário ”initiative, which annually supports an institution during the Youth Basketball Party, the FPB and the Associations call on the basketball family to support the acquisition of hospital supplies for the NHS”, announced on its website, the entity that manages basketball in Portugal.
The challenge was made to the various associations in the country and in the Coimbra district, the Coimbra Basketball Association (ABC) did not miss the call. “ABC has always been involved in Basket Solidário in Albufeira. We made an appeal for the donation of donations to athletes, coaches and leaders of the district teams. An amount was added and later delivered to an IPSS in Albufeira ”, says Luís Santarino.
