The Portuguese Football Federation (FPF) will distribute 4.187 million euros to clubs in the I and II football leagues from the UEFA solidarity fund, to be used in training, the organization announced today.
In a statement, the FPF details that the 29 clubs, 13 from the 1st League and 16 from the 2nd League, who have not reached the group stage of European competitions, will receive around 145,000 euros, exclusively for investments in training football.
The federative body recalls that this amount adds to the more than one million euros made available to clubs in the II League, due to the interruption of competition in 2019/20 due to the pandemic of covid-19, referring to the fund that encourages clubs in improving stadium conditions, but which, exceptionally, can be used for other purposes.
In 2019/20, Benfica played in the group stage of the Champions League and reached the round of 32 of the Europa League, in which FC Porto, Sporting de Braga and Sporting were also removed from the second European club competition, while Vitória de Guimarães 'fell' in the group stage.
Outside this solidarity fund are also the B teams.
