Benfica did not give Olivais a chance on matchday 20 of the Women's Basketball League. The reds beat the Olivanense team this Sunday, by 77-44, and applied the 13th defeat, in 18 games played in the competition, to Jorge Maia's team.
In the reunion of Olivais with the technician from Coimbra Eugénio Rodrigues, who led the team of Santo António dos Olivais to the conquest of the Women's League in the 2018/2019 season, Benfica always commanded the scorer and did not allow Olivais to enter into the discussion of the result.
A 27-18 partial in the first period, followed by a second 15-13 partial, left the Lisbon team winning by 11 points in rest time.
The second part further accentuated the difference. Benfica won the third quarter, 16-8, and returned to be stronger in the final quarter, partial of 19-5, thus consummating a victory with a loose margin of 33 points, 77-44.
The 13 points achieved by Olivais throughout the second half, against 35 by the team of Eugénio Rodrigues, demonstrate well the lack of inspiration of the visitors in the 2nd half.
The defeat leaves Olivais in 9th place, first position outside the playoff zone (23 points). In the next matchday, Jorge Maia's team plays in Coimbra against Galitos, an opponent who has one more point than the Olivanenses and who occupies the 8th position, the last place that guarantees the presence in the qualification playoff of the champion of the Women's League.
