Académica's president, Pedro Roxo, criticized the position of ACES Dão Lafões and the Directorate-General for Health (DGS), entities that decided to suspend the duel between Ac. Viseu and Académica, which marked the debut of both teams in the 2nd League 2020/2021.
“I cannot understand the decision. Professional football is complying with regulations above what was enacted by the Government and DGS. On the same weekend, the district tests of AF Viseu begin. The same health delegate accepts that there is a district championship without tests ”, lamented, in statements to DIÁRIO AS BEIRAS, the president of Briosa.
The decision was based on the three positive cases detected in Ac players. Viseu and the epidemiological situation in the municipality of Viseu.
The president of the academic group, who made a point of stressing that “this is a health issue and that football and Academics, in particular, were examples in preventing and understanding the pandemic moment”, hopes that the situation will be avoided in the future.
"I hope that this situation does not exist again and I hope that the criteria applied to other activities will be followed for professional football", he appealed.
The leader recalled the regulations for the resumption of the Portugal League. "Players who are tested and tested positive should be quarantined, but the game should not be postponed," he recalled.
