O Sporting joined Benfica today in the final of Cup 1947 in roller hockey, after beating Sporting de Tomar 5-3 in the semi-finals, in a competition that takes place in the Municipal Pavilion of Luso, in Mealhada.
Balance dominated the entire first half and the goalless draw at halftime perfectly mirrored what was happening in the game.
The 'lions', opening the second half, put themselves in advantage of two goals, scored by Toni Perez and Alessandro Verona, but Tomar reacted and restored equality with goals from Ivo Silva and Alexandre Marques, bringing a new breath to the team.
However, the commands by Paulo Freitas were more effective, with a good performance by Alessandro Verona, who scored again. Ferran Font and João Souto also scored for sportinguistas.
Even before the end of the match, Sporting de Tomar managed to score again, through Filipe Almeida, but the ‘lions’ did not let their presence escape in the final of the first edition of the competition.
In the previous game, Benfica had already secured a place in the final, after beating Oliveirense in the penalty shoot-out. After a 3-3 at the end of regular time and extra time, the ‘reds’ won on penalties 4-2.
The final of the 1947 roller hockey cup, between Benfica and Sporting, takes place at 15:00 on Sunday, at the Pavilhão Municipal do Luso.
