Diário As Beiras - Tondela's number one partner has died

Tondela's number one partner, Álvaro das Neves, died today at the age of 85, the I Liga football club announced on its official website.

“Clube Desportivo de Tondela hereby expresses its deepest regret at the passing of Álvaro das Neves, 85 years old, number one member of our club”, writes the club on the official page, presenting his condolences to his family and friends.

Tondela was born from the merger of two existing clubs in 1933, says the club on its website, when “the living forces of the city decided to make the union flag and the two great clubs then merged, Tondela Futebol Club and Operário Atlético Clube ”.

“With only a few years to live, they put the differences aside and in a noble gesture of citizenship and sportsmanship joined forces, leading to the merger of those two emblems, to found the true and grand Clube Desportivo de Tondela”, says the club.
