Striker Diego Barcellos announced today that he is leaving the Nacional team, who descended to the Portuguese Liga II after six and a half seasons in the service of the Madeiran club.
"After six and a half seasons, I have officially announced the end of my connection to the club. It was times of many victories and it is this National that I will always remember. I leave the club at a less good time, but with a clear conscience, I have always given my best. Just like in the recent past, I think the club will rise, and it will once again take its place where it should never have come out, "he announced on social networks.
Diego Barcelos, 34, joined the Madeiran club in the 2009/2010 season and was, in a first phase, until 2013/2014, followed by passes by the Cypriots of AEL Limassol and Thais of Polisse United.
He returned to Brazil to represent Brasilia and Dom Pedro, before returning to Portugal in 2016/17 to Varzim. Last season, he returned to Nacional, collaborating actively in the conquest of the title of Liga II and rise to I Liga.
In this season, it was little used by coach Costinha, having participated only in six games of the I League, one of the Portuguese Cup and two of the League Cup.
"A special thanks to the fans, who always respected me, and they never stopped supporting the team. To the National Sports Club, colleagues and technical team, thank you very much, "he wrote.
