DiVaM – Dynamizing and Enhancing the Monuments of the Algarve – continues from 11 to 13 September, with cultural initiatives in the Roman Ruins of Milreu, in the Sagres Fortress and in the Chapel of Nossa Senhora de Guadalupe.
«Human Rights, Equality and Non-Discrimination» is the theme of this year of the cultural program of the Regional Directorate for Culture of the Algarve and served as a motto for the projects applied by the partner entities.
The Roman Ruins of Milreu, in Estoi, in the municipality of Faro, will host on September 11th, at 5 pm, the first session of the VI edition of the project «Amatores in Situ – The ancient world seen by those who love it» .
The opening lecture, by Leonor Santa Bárbara, assistant professor at Nova, will deal with «Hospitality and supplicants: some examples of respect for the other».
This cycle consists of a series of lectures open to the public, around the ancient world and related topics.
Like the 2019 edition, the activity will be organized by CÍVIS – Association for the Deepening of Citizenship, with the collaboration of the Faculty of Human and Social Sciences of the University of Algarve and APEC – Portuguese Association of Classical Studies. The coordination is once again in charge of Ana Isabel Soares and João Pedro Bernardes, professors at UAlg.

On September 12th, DiVaM will be in Fortaleza de Sagres with the show «I See You», scheduled for 18:30.
This is a contemporary circus project that addresses themes of human sensitivity and gender equality, in a disciplinary cross between acrobatic expression and human psychology.
The show, a co-production between the Teatro Experimental de Lagos, the B-Side company and the Vaya company, is aimed at families, school audiences and the general public. For more information and reservations contact [email protected] or 282620140
The Chapel of Nossa Senhora de Guadalupe, in Vila do Bispo, is the place chosen to receive, on September 13, the Days of the Black Virgins – Cycle of Plastic Arts and Historical Music, starting at 14:30.
The first initiative is a singing and adufe workshop entitled «Drum Circle: Canticles of the Virgin and the Earth», followed by the concert «Intercultural Dialogue in the Medieval Mediterranean», by Ensemble Med.
The Dias d´As Virgens Negras, a show by the Association O Corvo ea Raposa, is an artistic homage to the Black Virgins in the World, in this very particular case to the Virgin of Guadalupe, and takes place in two distinct moments: a musical proposal and a performance followed by an exhibition.
