Domestic tourism continues to sustain resumption of tourism activity in July - INE


Domestic tourism continued in July to sustain the recovery of tourist activity in Portugal, with the year-on-year decline in guests and overnight stays slowing to -64.0% and -68.1%, respectively, the INE reported today.

According to the National Statistics Institute (INE), in July the tourist accommodation sector (hotels, local accommodation with 10 or more beds and tourism in rural / residential areas) registered 1.0 million guests (-64.0%) and 2.6 million overnight stays (-68.1%), recovering from the 82.4% and 85.5% falls, respectively, recorded in June.

Overnight stays by residents fell 30.8% over the same month of 2019 (-59.4% in June), well below the 84.5% fall in overnight stays from non-residents (-96.7% in the previous month), refers to INE.
