President of the United States, Donald Trump, will be able to visit Portugal as early as next August, according to TVI, on Friday, July 12.
According to TVI, the trip is being studied by the two governments, and the visit should focus on the economy and Lajes Base.
Although it is still unknown the day of the state visit, it is estimated that it should happen a day before or after Donald Trump visit Spain.
If it materializes, this will be the first state visit in 34 years. Bill Clinton, George W. Bush and Barack Obama stepped on national soil but never on a state visit.
The Foreign Ministry told the TV channel that "we have nothing to say about the issue raised about a possible visit by the President of the United States to Portugal."
