What began as a comedy segment on The Daily Show, hosted by Trevor Noah, where the humorist claimed that the immigration policies of Donald Trump, president of the United States, were intended to deport his wife Melania Trump, quickly became one of the most discussed topics on the social network Twitter through the hashtag #dontdeportmelania.
The humorist during his humorous storytelling made use of various positions taken by Trump on immigration and tried to demonstrate that these were a method for removing Melania from the United States.
“Donald, I see what you are trying to do, but I won't allow that to happen. We will not let that happen. I ask The Daily Show fans to join me on twitter with #dontdeportmelania. Because if this great immigrant is forced out of the country, the United States cannot be considered to be the best, ”was the appeal launched by Trevor Noah, after presenting his rhetoric during the program.
The US president had ordered an operation in July to identify, detain and deport immigrants who were illegally in the country.
The US Pew Research Center, 10.5 million immigrants lived illegally in the United States in 2017. Nearly two-thirds have lived in the US for over a decade.
