EDP Renováveis's production fell 4% in the first quarter to 8.4 terawatt hours compared to the same period last year, the company announced on Tuesday, April 23.
Although more power (663 megawatts) went into operation, the company was hampered by a wind blowing less, with the wind resource receding from 38% to 34% in the first quarter.
The North American market weighed the most on total production (53%), followed by Europe (43%) and Brazil (4%).
In Europe, production decreased by 7% in the first quarter "mostly impacted by the lower wind resource of the quarter".
In North America, production declined 5% due to "the lowest wind resource of the period, despite the greater installed capacity."
In Brazil, production increased, benefiting from the increase in capacity and the "largest wind resource".
