EHTVRSA joins the network of Clubs of Ciência Viva «MED_LAB»

The School of Hospitality and Tourism of Vila Real de Santo António (EHTVRSA) made its adhesion to the network of Clubs of Ciência Viva at the School «MED_LAB».

Leveraged by the Regional Intelligent Specialization Strategy (RIS3 Algarve), the project aims at valuing knowledge in the scientific and technological areas and experimental science teaching, at all levels of education, but particularly at the levels of basic and secondary education.

“In line with the educational project of EHTVRSA, which is mainly based on the enhancement of the Mediterranean lifestyle”, says the institution, it is intended, over the next three years, to develop “innovative” activities that contribute to the dissemination, research and exchange knowledge, in gastronomy workshops, in the creation of new products and in the realization of lectures and workshops.

The project, approved by CRESC Algarve 2020 (Operational Plan for the Algarve), aims at a set of activities that can be extended to the Hospitality and Tourism Schools of Faro and Portimão, namely with regard to promoting culinary workshops aimed at young audiences.

The workshops, complemented by the technological support of an interactive pedagogical game, will allow students of the various levels of education to perceive the sensory interaction of the tasting, while the other activities are aimed both at the students of the schools that integrate the project, as well as their partners and the general population, with an interest in themes associated with the Mediterranean diet.

The development of an innovative culinary recipe, based on endogenous products from the Algarve, and the organization of the «MED_LAB – Mediterranean Diet» Journeys are other planned actions.

“MED_LAB” is also an opportunity to provide non-formal learning, promoting the establishment of contact networks and partnerships, with a positive impact on the economic, social and environmental value chain, with a view to promoting more sustainable tourism ”, he concludes the EHTVRSA.
