Eleven Algarve clubs will receive a total of 165,000 euros from the Portuguese Institute of Sports and Youth (IPDJ) to rehabilitate their facilities, within the framework of the Program for Rehabilitation of Sports Facilities (PRID).
It is a program for clubs and sports associations in mainland Portugal, aiming at the renovation, rehabilitation and conservation of its sports facilities.
According to the list published by the IPDJ, the largest share of the value attributed to the Algarve collectives belongs to Portimonense, which will receive 30 thousand euros to replace the synthetic pitch of the Major David Neto field.
The Estrela de Bensafrim (bench cover and illumination of the soccer field), the Sambrasense (synthetic field run in the Sousa Uva field) and the Olhanense Gymnasium will be supported with 20 thousand euros each.
Next are GD Lagoa, which will receive 19,200 euros to replace the Josino da Costa field fence; the Clube Recreativo Alturense, which will be entitled to 17,500 euros for the remodeling of equipment and resorts; and GD Alcoutim and Judo Clube do Algarve, which will be awarded 15 thousand euros each for the improvement of the sports center and the improvement of spa and energy efficiency, respectively.
The Youth Club Aljezurense has a contribution of 5 thousand euros for the improvements in its headquarters building; the Sports and Educational Club of Faro will invest the support of 1,800 euros in the replacement of access to its sports park; and the Jujutsu Clube de Faro will spend 1,500 euros on the renovation and rehabilitation of the martial arts room.
In 2019, the government made available to the PRID about 2 million euros, which could be increased, in an overall investment of 7.5 million euros.
This program was launched in the absence of funding plans / sources for the redevelopment of sports infrastructures and community funds to which clubs and associations can apply in the current framework.
