On the day that the International Volunteer Day is marked, the Municipality of Portimão opens the entries for the European City of Sports 2019 Volunteer Scholarship, a project that has a program of events of international, national and regional scope in the most diverse modalities sports, motorsports, motorcycling, swimming, fitness, soccer, athletics, bmx, karate, futvolei, tennis, sailing, paddle, cycling, parachuting, bocce, windsurfing and many other types of programs of physical activity and sports training of quality. All this under the motto "More Sport for All".
Those interested in joining the Volunteer Exchange can register on the official website of the European City of Sport 2019 at www.portimaodesporto2019.pt, and must be at least 16 years of age. The availability, sense of responsibility, being communicative, knowledge of languages and assuming the commitment to represent the spirit of the project are some of the characteristics requested.
Between January and December 2019, volunteers will have the opportunity to collaborate in various areas, performing various tasks ranging from logistical support to the secretariat, room assistance, athletes reception, technical team support, distribution of advertising and delivery of prizes.
Participants will be entitled to an identification card, personal accident insurance and a grant to support food and travel expenses for volunteering, as well as the opportunity to participate in volunteer training actions. The general rules of participation in the Volunteer project are available online for consultation.
This is an opportunity to participate in the one that will be the biggest sporting arena nationwide, and live up close all the emotions of the European City of Sport in 2019.
On December 21st, the first general training of Volunteers of CED 2019 will be organized by the Regional Directorate of the Algarve of the Portuguese Institute of Sports and Youth, at 10:00 am in the Manuel Teixeira Gomes Municipal Library.

Also to mark this day, the Municipality of Portimão, together with Dypall, is promoting a snack in the Loja Já already, operating in the facilities of the S. João de Deus Avenue, for young people, where new services in this area and where it will be possible to talk to volunteers from Poland, Turkey, Macedonia, Italy and Spain, who will collaborate with the municipality in the next 9 months under the theme "Volunteers Build Resilient Communities".
