The Ministry of Finance now informs that taxpayers who have not adhered to Via CTT or do not notify the Tax Authority will not be penalized for IRC or VAT reimbursement.
Taxpayers who are entitled to IRC or VAT reimbursement, but who have not joined the Via CTT, will receive refunds due same as without the regularized situation, clarifies a normative order published today in Diário da República.
"The suspension of the period for granting the reimbursement, verified before or after January 1, 2019, (…), because the taxable person did not communicate to the tax administration his electronic mailbox, will cease with the entry into force of this Normative Order "Reads the signed document Secretary of State for Fiscal Affairs, Mendonça Mendes.
Previously, it was foreseen that "the lack of communication, or communication beyond the legal deadline, of adhesion to the electronic mail box (Via CTT)" suspended "the (…) condition of granting the refund of VAT or IRC."
Last year several taxpayers were fined for not having joined the electronic mailbox (ViaCTT), and were then reimbursed. The system, it should be remembered, obliged taxpayers to join ViaCTT and, if they did not do so, "in a timely manner" would be subject to a fine ranging from 50 to 250 euros.
These fines were later repealed with the State Budget for 2019, which put an end to this matter, since it provides for taxpayers to be notified by the Tax Authority (TA) through the Finance Portal.
