The Art Gallery of Praça do Mar, Quarteira, hosts the "Cartooning for Peace" Exhibition from April 20 to May 31, part of the program of the 5th DeVIR Meetings.
This is a set of 20 illustrations on freedom of the press, which gives a glimpse of the work of cartoonists and illustrators, pacifist advocates of our societies, who are regularly targeted worldwide.
Through laughter these brave creators show us the way: by the peaceful weapons of pencil, free thought and humor, they help preserve the health of our democracies when they are threatened. This collective exhibition, organized by the association Cartooning for Peace, is the result of the edition of the commemorative book of the association's 10 years.
It was exhibited at the Paris City Hall and is presented for the first time in Portugal. It is part of the 5th edition of this festival whose theme is (a) to announce and recalls our common commitment to uphold the fundamental principle of freedom of expression.
Cartooning for Peace is a non-profit association that brings cartoonists from around the world. Founded by Kofi Annan and Plantu, it aims to promote satirical, cartoon / illustration drawing as a vehicle for raising awareness of Peace.
