From January 13th to 16th, the Municipality of Loulé, through the Loulé Film Office, a structure dedicated to the promotion of the cinema and audiovisual sector, launches yet another edition of MONSTRARE – Mostra Internacional de Cinema Social. This year, the theme "Family" is the starting point for the films presented and the conversations around them.
At a time when the pandemic continues to condition the course of cultural initiatives, the event will be held in virtual space, that is, on social networks. Thus, through the Facebook of the Loulé Film Office, it will be possible to view the films presented, as well as follow the proposed webinars, while on Instagram there will be lives daily and talks with guests connected to the cinema sector.
At the start of the Mostra, on January 13, the “shorts” will be highlighted on the Short Films Day. Between 5:00 pm and 8:00 pm, the organization makes available “Moço”, by Bernardo Lopes; “The Sjaaks Woman died and he has to say something”, by Eva Zanern (Netherlands), “California”, by Nuno Baltazar; and “Addiction to a happy family”, by Tiago R. Santos. At 10 pm, director from the city of Bernardo Lopes, recently awarded the Revelation Prize at the XXVI Festival Caminhos do Cinema Português with “Moço”, will make a presentation live on Instagram about this work and the award it received.
The Portuguese-French production “Montanha”, by director João Salaviza, is MONSTRARE's proposal for the 14th of January. Between 5 pm and 8 pm, it will be possible to view the film on Facebook.
It follows, at 21:00, a webinar with the producer of “Montanha”, Maria João Mayer. At 10 pm, Louletan actress Victoria Guerra will perform a live on Instagram, thus joining yet another cinema-related initiative that takes place in Loulé.
The documentary “Tempo Comum” is part of the Mostra program on January 15th – the DOC Day -, available online from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Director Susana Nobre brings up the theme of motherhood.
Director Susana Nobre and Ivone Machado, director of the Casa da Primeira Infância in Loulé, will be the guests of the webinar that will take place from 6:30 pm to 7:30 pm, dedicated to the central theme of this film. From 23:00, there will be a talk on Instagram with screenwriter, director and producer Gonçalo Galvão Teles.
It should be noted that MONSTRARE, a Latin word that means to make something visible, is the first event in Portugal dedicated exclusively to cinema on social themes. It is yet another initiative that is part of the Municipality of Loulé's commitment to promoting and supporting seventh art, whether in terms of shooting productions or holding events such as the recent Cinetendinha Awards.
