Algarve team climbed to 16th place, which guarantees "playoff" at the end of the season
Farense today scored three precious points in the fight for maintenance, winning (2-0) at Paços de Ferreira, thanks to a second half of excellent quality, in the opening match of the 28th round of the 1st soccer league.
On the main chance of the Algarve in the first half, in the 32nd minute, Mansilla shot wide from the side, with the ball passing near the post, after a counterattack led by Ryan Gauld.
Paços, who during the first half hour showed off without dynamics, responded even before the break, with moves of relative danger wasted by Ibrahim and João Amaral.
In the second part, the Algarves came under pressure and created good occasions, namely in two headlines by Pedro Henrique, one on top and the other defended by Jordi.
On 77 minutes, Jorge Costa's team, who was always "on top" in this period, reached the goal: Scottish midfielder Ryan Gauld was fouled in the penalty area (which referee Manuel Mota confirmed using the images) and converted the respective penalty.
Facing a very weak Paços, Farense scored the second goal, by Brazilian midfielder Fabrício Isidoro, to conclude a move with several rebounds (85).
The Algarvians, who ended the cycle of three consecutive defeats, moved up to 16th and antepenultimate place (25 points), which guarantees the playoff with the 3rd placed in the 2nd League.
