Farense drew today (2-2) at Vitória de Guimarães, in the late game of the 14th round of the 1st soccer league, adding a point even in numerical inferiority in the last half hour.
The Faro team got off to a good start, creating two dangerous situations in the first 10 minutes: a deflection by Ryan Gauld after a corner, which Mensah cut over the line, at 5, and a shot by Madi Queta that Bruno Varela deflected with your fingertips out (10).
On his first occasion, Vitória came to the advantage: after a corner from the left, Pepelu, with no mark in the 'heart' of the area and with Defendi missing, easily headed into the empty net.
At 21, Farense drew, through a penalty scored by Ryan Gauld (seventh goal in the championship), to punish foul committed by Jorge Fernandes on Madi Queta in the area.
Shortly afterwards, Defendi avoided, with a good defense, a low shot by Marcus Edwards after a counter-attack, but the English winger ended up, at 36, in a shot from outside the area.
The Algarve team came up with a slower pace in the second half, similarly to the opponent, and the situation seemed to be complicated at 60 minutes with the expulsion of Alex Pinto, by accumulation of yellow cards.
Despite the numerical superiority, the Guimarães remained asleep, eventually making room for the tie, by Stojiljkovic, following a throw-in (79).
Farense moved up to 15th place, with 17 points, receiving Benfica in the next round, in a meeting scheduled for Sunday, at 20:15 hours.
