Farense shows up in Luz with "ambition" to try to surprise Benfica

The coach of Farense, who has not yet scored in the I Liga, promised a team with “ambition” tomorrow, Sunday, at Estádio da Luz (6:30 pm), where he will try to repeat what other teams have already done to Benfica.

“The message is one of ambition. We have to be ambitious. If we win against Benfica in Luz, we will not be the first team to do so. Let's repeat what other teams, throughout history, have already given as an example. We have to be ambitious and take those examples. But this ambition cannot start from theory, lip service, it has to be demonstrated inside the field ”, stressed Sérgio Vieira today, in the preview press conference at the start of the 3rd round of the competition.

Facing a Benfica with two victories in two games, Farense must enter the field with “competitiveness, organization, solidarity, audacity, confidence and concentration”, being careful for the moments when the “incarnate” “will rule the game”.

“We will wait for the game to unfold trying to be ourselves. Not only at the defensive moment we are organized and competitive, but at the moment with the ball we try to be bold and create dangerous situations. In the end, we do an analysis of what happened, but we have to be calmly aware that we were ambitious ”, he reinforced.

Without lifting the tip of the veil on the more or less defensive approach in the face of a powerful opponent from an offensive point of view, Sérgio Vieira wants a team capable of taking advantage of the mistakes or bad decisions of Benfica players.

Regarding the market, the Farense technician said that, until the market closes, next Tuesday, he hopes to have one or more reinforcements. "Most likely, it could happen to add value and quality to what we already have," he said.

Center-back Cássio assured that the team is prepared for the game of Luz. “We know the difficulties that we will encounter, but we must be prepared for all circumstances. We worked hard this week to evolve in all aspects. We have many ambitions and [o campeonato] it doesn't end there ”, he said.

The Brazilian player knows that Benfica “is a great player in Portugal”, but he stressed that “Farense is also great”. “It is this mentality that we have to have. With the responsibility of wearing the Farense jersey, with a lot of ambition, we can make a great game ”, he stressed.
