The Faro City Council this week established a protocol with the European Anti-Poverty Network (EAPN), becoming part of the Anti-Poverty Observatory.
The municipality of Faro was represented by Councilor Carlos Baía, responsible for the area of Social Action, last Tuesday, on a day dedicated to discussing the problem of the fight against poverty, promoted by the network and held in the Senate room of the Assembly of the Republic .
With the presence of the President of the Assembly of the Republic, Ferro Rodrigues, the president of the European Anti-Poverty Network, Fr Agostinho Jardim Moreira, and representatives of political parties with a parliamentary seat, the conference allowed the debate on "Impact assessment of Public Policies in the fight against Poverty ".
The culmination of these days was marked by the signing of protocols between the European Anti-Poverty Network and five different entities, including the municipality of Faro.
"Unemployment, insufficient incomes, aging populations, not fixing the population in the interior, the crisis in the urban suburbs and some resurgence of the phenomenon of the homeless are problems that the local power can not ignore," says the executive , in a statement.
The Faro Municipal Council signed an "innovative collaboration agreement" with the European Anti-Poverty Network, and became part of the Anti-Poverty Observatory, whose activity began on the same day (9 October).
"The municipality of Faro has brought to its side a credible and experienced partner, both in monitoring and eradicating the phenomenon of poverty, making this objective a central commitment for the social development of the county and the well-being of our families," he points out. the autarchy.
