The Municipal Library of Faro (BMF) will mark the 96th anniversary of the birth of its patron, the poet António Ramos Rosa, with some activities that will take place during the month of October.
A picture of the poet by the artist Pulita, born in Funchal in 1944 and based in Faro since 1980, where he is a pediatrician, will be on display in the library lobby until the end of October.
The painter's artistic path is closely linked to the São Lourenço Cultural Center, in Almancil, and to the Estoi Art and Culture Center. Integrating the Iberian Association of Plastic and Similar Artists and the Portuguese Society of Painters and Medical Artists, the painter has already exhibited her work in Portugal, Spain and Finland.
BMF has a set of objects donated by the poet on permanent display, on the 1st floor, testimony to the various tributes he received, literary awards and honorary distinctions.
In the lobby, there will be the bibliographic exhibition «Relembrando António Ramos Rosa», integrating a large part of the library's collection of its vast poetic, critical and translator production.
António Ramos Rosa, a central figure in Portuguese poetry of all times, was born in Faro on October 17, 1924 and died in Lisbon on September 23, 2013.
