Faro Municipality strengthens schools in the municipality with 17 operational assistants

The Mayor of Faro signed yesterday, Monday, the employment contracts with 13 of the 17 operational assistants to be incorporated in the beginning of the school year in the school groups of the municipality.

This investment, which amounts to 211 thousand euros per year, arises in the scope of the effort that the municipality of Faro is making to “earnestly prepare a new academic year very marked by the assumption of new rules and work methodologies according to the pandemic situation” .

Along this path, several awareness-raising actions were carried out by the Municipal Civil Protection Service, with several schools in the municipality, with the aim of clarifying doubts and ensuring compliance with all government guidelines and health authorities regarding the fight against dissemination. Covid-19.

At the same time, isolation tents were placed near the schools that requested it, dispensers were installed in all school establishments and minor repairs, paintings and cleaning and disinfection actions were carried out in the school environment.

In addition, primary schools and pre-schools will have part of their furniture renewed through an investment of around 31,980 euros, whose acquisition procedure is already underway.

Within the scope of school transport, two new vans adapted and approved for this function, which the municipality acquired after an investment of around 80 thousand euros, are already delivered and in circulation.

The school transport plan for the 2020/2021 school year, which represents a total investment of 491,642.77 euros, provides for free transportation for all students of all levels of education residing more than 3 kilometers from the school establishment. teaching they attend.

The implementation of this plan includes public land careers (buses, minibuses or municipal vehicles), public river careers and a special river circuit for students residing in the housing centers of the island of Culatra.

The municipality also allocated an extraordinary financial contribution to the João de Deus, Pinheiro and Rosa, Tomás Cabreira, D. Afonso III and Montenegro School Groups, in a total amount of 100 thousand euros, for the purchase of computer equipment in the scope of support to the process distance learning and teaching, to be distributed to students in needy families in the municipality.

With all these measures, the Mayor of Faro has the expectation that the school year will run “smoothly”, as it has happened in recent years.

“Starting an academic year without disturbances or delays is the best news we can give to all students, parents, teachers and non-teaching staff in a time of normal tribulation and anxiety. We work hard to prepare the best solutions and make the investments that prove necessary ”, said Rogério Bacalhau, a career professor.
