Ferreiras Duathlon returns to the road in April

After the interruption of 2020, due to the pandemic situation caused by COVID-19, the Duathlon of Ferreiras will return to the road on the next 25th of April. The initiative, which is part of the Algarve Duathlon Championship, is aimed at federated athletes and starts scheduled for 10:30 am, next to Estádio da Nora. The test is approved by the Regional Health Directorate of the Algarve and has reinforced security, circulation and surveillance measures.

The V Duathlon of Ferreiras, consists of a race and cycling race on the road. The first race, which means 4 kilometers of road (connecting section plus 2 laps) and the second
The race, over a distance of 2 kilometers (1 lap), goes through an asphalt course with little gradient. In the cycling race, athletes will cycle for 16.2 kilometers (3 laps), on a course with little gradient and low technical requirements.

In the end, the usual prize-giving ceremony will not be held, with trophies only being awarded to the first 3 athletes (male and female) and the first 3 teams (male and female). All athletes, 2 meters apart and wearing a mask, will be subjected to a body temperature measurement at the checkpoint, will have alcohol gel at their disposal and must sign a declaration that they have no symptoms of the disease in the last 15 days. .

This initiative is organized in partnership by Futebol Clube de Ferreiras, Albufeira City Council and Triathlon Federation of Portugal with the support of the parish council of Ferreiras. The event is part of the commemoration program for the 25th of April in the municipality of Albufeira.
