Filipe Albuquerque won the 24 Hours of Le Mans in the LMP2 category, the second most important in the mythical French race, and became world endurance champion.

Albuquerque shared a United Autosports chassis with Britons Phip Hanson and Paul di Resta. The three overcame the Jota team, which included António Félix da Costa and who came in second in the category.

Overall, the race was won by the official Toyota number 8 shared by Sébastien Buemi, Brendon Hartley and Kazuki Nakajima, a trio that completed 387 laps, five more than the runners-up (Rebbellion Racing, car number 1).
