«Promotion of Mental Health and Prevention of Depression and Suicide» is the theme of the 7th edition of the International Film and Mental Health Festival (FICSAM), which will take place on October 3rd and 4th at the University of Algarve (UAlg). .
The event, organized by the Unconscious Collective Association, will be based on UAlg's large auditorium on the Gambelas campus, where the films will be screened.
This festival aims to “inform and make the community aware of mental health issues” through the exhibition of cinematographic works produced by filmmakers from all over the world, thus contributing to the diversity of views on different issues.
In addition to cinema, other artistic areas are covered in this event, painting, photography and theater, aiming to "inform, contribute to the reflection and awareness of the community on the subject of mental health".
Movies from different countries will be screened for two days, but the festival's agenda will also include painting and photography exhibitions, a play by Teatro do Sótao, from the Algarve Mental Health Association, entitled "Go, It's Being!" and an intensive workshop of digital cinema.
On Thursday, 3, there is also a conference entitled "Promotion of Mental Health and Prevention of Depression and Suicide", promoted by professionals in the area and open to the whole community.
