The Municipality of Águeda delivered the SIRESP radios to the Volunteer Firefighters of Águeda, the local civil protection unit of Belazaima do Chão, Castanheira do Vouga and Agadão and the volunteer group of the Parish of Valongo do Vouga.
The municipality provided 16 portable radios and 5 mobile vehicles, a type of communications system duly validated by the Ministry of Internal Administration and the National Authority for Emergency and Civil Protection.
According to a note sent by the municipality, this is an investment of more than 20 thousand euros, which also includes a municipal communications network, "which aims to integrate the different intervention teams".
The Águeda Volunteer Firefighters, as part of the network, will provide training, both in the fight against fireworks and in the scope of equipment use, the same note said.
On the delivery of the equipment, Jorge Almeida, stressed the importance of the delivery of these new equipment, which will contribute to the communication between the various actors are more effective, thus ensuring their safety and a better response to the requests of the population. He added that "in a second phase, the municipality will deliver equipment identical to other institutions linked to the civil protection of the county."
