First Satellite Images Revealed Under 1 Meter Resolution - Science

Founded in 2015 and based in Helsinki, ICEYE dedicated to the manufacture of mini satellites weighing less than 100 kg today (August 9) unveiled the first satellite images with a resolution of less than one meter.

To obtain these images, Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) satellites are used which allow the capture of satellite images regardless of the time of day or weather conditions, particularly with cloudy skies, unlike optical satellites.

In addition to these satellites that have been launched since January 2018, the company has also developed Spotlight technology, which allows the satellite to focus its energy in a small area over a longer period of time, obtaining more information that is then processed in Image.

ICEYE expects to arrive early next year with five of its satellites in orbit, whose imagery acquired through them can be used in various sectors, such as maritime safety or emergency response.
