Stélvio Cruz, a Luxembourg midfielder, called for a game against Mauritania on May 12 in the CAN2019 qualifiers, said he hopes to give the Angolan national team more experience.
"Being called to the selection of your country is always a reason for pride and happiness," he said in brief statements to ANGOP from Luxembourg in response to the call eight years later.
At the age of 29, on his return to the Palancas Negras since participating in the CAN2010, the midfielder promises to show his maturity:
"I think I can add more experience" to the national team, said the undisputed head of Dudelange, the national champion and Luxembourg's representative in the Europa League.
On his sporting moment, Stélvio told Angop that since he arrived in Dudelange he has gained "a stability that he did not have" in other clubs and that changed his career "in terms of injuries and income."
Started in Sporting Braga de Portugal and with passages for the Recreativos do Libolo and Caála and still 1º de Agosto, he has been a starter and helped his formation to conquer four titles of Luxembourg champion in the last five years.
A regular in the midfield of Dudelange has an average of four goals per season. In the current season already has a goal scored.
However, for family reasons, he missed the last game of the Europa League, a tournament in which he already has a goal.
Sélvio, who is the son of handball coach Filipe Cruz, played for the last time against Ghana in the CAN2010 quarter-finals in Angola.
On his return, he will help the Palancas Negras on Monday in Luanda to defeat Mauritania, the leader of the African Nations Cup qualifying group in 2019.
