On the day of the last round of the Dutch championship, Frenkie de Jong said goodbye to Ajax. The young average of 20 years, that will go to Barcelona next season, was elected the best player of the Dutch championship.
The Dutch international is making a great season and has played in 30 games and scored three goals in the trek that will crown Ajax as champion on Wednesday. The young man did not hide his pride in receiving this prize.
"I'm very proud of the award. Johan Cruyff [n.d.r nome do prémio] was the biggest Dutch player ever and eventually changed the football. I've always been a big fan of him and I'm very happy to see my name associated with player size, "the midfielder said in a statement to Fox Sports.
This is the third consecutive season that an Ajax player wins this prize, after Kasper Dolberg (2017) and Matthijs de Ligt (2018). Before De Jong, Arjen Robben, Wesley Sneijder, Klaas-Jan Huntellar, Christian Eriksen and Miralem Sulejmani were among the players who have been awarded this prize since 2003.
