Praia da Galé was once again the stage for another Regional Triathlon Championship in the Algarve, a competition organized by Futebol Clube de Ferreiras in collaboration with the Municipality of Albufeira.
In compliance with all safety and distance rules, the VI Triathlon in Albufeira was the first race of the season in the Algarve in COVID-19 time.
The match was held, by gender, with all the athletes simultaneously, spread across the beach of Praia da Galé properly distanced, an image of adaptation to the new times we live in.
The big winner of this Championship was Tomas Metcalf, from O2 Triathlon – S 'Look who cut the goal in 51 minutes and 25 seconds in a spectacular final race. Nelson Mestre, from Lusitano / Frusoal, at 25 seconds and Nuno Neves, also from Louletano at 40 seconds, completed the podium.
The Louletano athletes dominated the women's competition, occupying the first 3 positions. The first athlete to pass the goal was Jana Advani, followed by teammates Marina Zaborskaya and Clara Rodrigues.
Futebol Clube de Ferreiras and Albufeira City Council are already preparing the next race to be held in the Municipality of Albufeira. This is the Regional Duathlon Championship, scheduled for 29 November and which will return to the streets of Ferreiras.
