NetherRealm Studios remains committed to expanding its combat series with more content and above all to nurture a narrative around its main characters. It is the return of Raiden, Jonnhy Cage, Sony Blade, Scorpion and Sub-Zero, some of the characters from the original title released 27 years ago on arcade machines and consoles. The new game arrives today in stores on the PC, PS4 and Xbox One (the Nintendo Switch version was delayed in Europe for May).
Mortal Kombat 11 features yet another engaging narrative that justifies the control of multiple characters, giving them the motivations to confront each other in battle arenas. It is a winning formula, repeated not only for the third time since the 2011 reboot, but successfully applied to the other DC Comics super-hero studio series Injustice. In the new chapter, the team led by creator Ed Boon decided to mix the plot a bit, with time travel, which allows the confrontation between newer versions of the well-known characters.
The game features an initial range of 25 characters, most known to fans of the series, but marks the debut of three new names: Cetrion, Geras and Kollector. As usual, the studio will release new fighters in the coming months for the cast of "kombate". It also presents Kronika, the first female boss in the series, and responsible for the manipulation of time.
The game stands out for the amount of content available, in addition to the intense and long history, the famous Towers, a classic format where you will have to face a succession of enemies to receive different rewards. The new chapter introduces the new Towers of Time, raising the challenge with its special modifiers that shuffle the rules of combat, such as the character losing energy progressively or more speed of the opponent, to give examples.
Throughout all matches and modes, it will unlock gold, which serves to open chests with items, but also unlock cosmetic equipment for the characters, as well as so-called "augments" that are improvements that can be equipped. There is a lot to unlock in the game, especially in the chests scattered around the crypt (the return of the possible scenario to explore freely).
Obviously, online clashes continue to be a focus of attention, rewarding players for victories. To be fair, when an opponent is found, the game has statistics of wins and losses, crossing the odds of success in the match, so you can deny it if you think the fight will be disloyal.
