Uruguayan international footballer Diego Godín announced today that at the end of the 2018/19 season he will leave Atlético de Madrid, a club he has played for nine seasons and that he has defined as his home.
"I will be more adept, for all the respect and affection that the adepts gave me all these years. For me, Atletico is much more than a club, it's a family, a way of living. It was my house and it is always difficult to say goodbye. I want to thank all the beautiful moments that we live and that I will remember forever, "the defender said at a press conference.
At the service of Atletico Madrid, Godín, 33, has won two editions of the Europa League, three European Super Cups, a Spanish league, a King's Cup and a Spanish Super Cup.
Visibly moved, the Uruguayan international defender was accompanied in the press room by several figures of the Madrid club, among them the president, Enrique Cerezo, and the coach of the team, the Argentine Diego Simeone.
