Gonçalo Carvalho, from the Continental UCI Miranda-Mortágua team, was selected to represent Portugal in the sub-23 race of the road world championship.
The Mortágua cyclist, like Nelson Oliveira, also studied at ESTGA. The young runner will line up with four colleagues in the under-23suit, set for Friday. A test that presents a high degree of mountainous hardness, with a cumulative rise in the order of 2910 meters, spread over 186.2 km. "It will be my first World Cup, a very demanding competition, which I like, because it is based on my characteristics and I believe I can make a good performance," said the cyclist, third best in the youth prize in Volta a Portugal and better classified of his team with the 24th place overall.
