The Finance Ministry on Thursday denied a rise of 10 euros for all civil servants in the next year, according to a report released by the newspaper Público.
An official source in Mário Centeno's office told the newspaper: "The Ministry of Finance denies that it is studying increases of ten euros for the entire public function."
Negotiations are not yet closed, but the value being discussed in the context of the State Budget for 2019 gives priority to lower wages in the Civil Service. Wages in the 600-euro bracket will have higher increases, ensuring that no government employee earns less than 635 euros
Between this amount and EUR 835, the increases could reach 10 euros. To these scenarios in negotiation is also added the possibility of an increase of 10 euros for the total universe of civil servants, revealed to the "Economic Journal" source close to the negotiation process.
