The Government plans to provide 50 million euros for increases in the Civil Service, which represents an average salary increase of more than 3%. The amount was announced this Tuesday, October 16, by the Minister of Finance, when presenting the State Budget for 2019 (OE2019).

"It is the largest salary increase of the Portuguese public administration of the last decade. It is a huge budget effort on the remuneration of civil servants, "Mário Centeno told a news conference.

To the journalists, the official also said that there will be a program of hiring in the State, so that "the cadres of the public administration can be renewed, particularly in the technical areas." With this increase, the Executive wants the workers to be "more motivated".

"It is the great ambition of the civil servants who are advancing their careers … .Three years of careers are being thawed in two calendar years," said the Minister of Finance.
