The government suspended the announcement of the list of personalities with subsidies two months ago, without seeking an opinion from any official or body, according to the "Jornal de Notícias" on Monday.
When the decision was taken, the justification provided by the Ministry of Social Security was related to the new data protection regulation. And to date, the National Data Protection Commission (CNPD) has not been called upon to rule on the decision to conceal the beneficiaries of so-called "golden pensions."
According to the CNPD, publication of the list of political grants is not provided for by any legislation. Still, the body "will issue an opinion" on the non-disclosure of this list, if "there is any standard in the proposal for State Budget for 2019."
To date, the CNPD "has not received any request for a specific opinion on this."
