Grândola celebrates World Poetry Day online

The municipality of Grândola marks the World Poetry Day on Saturday, 21, with the sharing, at 11:00 and 15:00 hours, on the social networks of the municipality, of the reading of texts and poems.

Excerpts from Fernando Pessoa and Adélia Carvalho and a poem by Ruy Belo were read, read by Sara Basílio, Cátia Miquelino and Marisa Pereira, technicians from the Municipal Library of Grândola.

March 21 was proclaimed as World Poetry Day at the 30th UNESCO General Conference in Paris in 1999, with the purpose of supporting linguistic diversity through poetic expression.

The date marked 22 years ago serves to honor poets, revive oral traditions of poetry recitals, promote reading, writing and teaching poetry, fostering the convergence between poetry and other arts, promoting linguistic diversity with poetic expression and giving more space to endangered languages.
