A group of 21 migrants from North Africa was detected today, Tuesday, in the late afternoon, off the island of Farol, in the municipality of Faro, in a small motor boat, the Foreigners and Borders Service reported. (SEF).
The citizens were intercepted by the Coastal Control Unit of the Republican National Guard. At the landing site, the Maritime Police was also present.
According to SEF, basic needs were immediately guaranteed, including food, medical assistance and accommodation. Covid-19 tests will also be carried out later this evening.
The 21 migrants, all male, are currently in the custody of GNR and SEF.
During Wednesday, all necessary steps will be taken to assess the situation and promote the appropriate measures for the case.
