The third concert of the International Music Festival of Algarve (FIMA), scheduled for Easter Sunday, 21, in Tavira, will feature the Orquestra Clássica do Sul and Vocal Olisipo Group.
The show, which takes place at the Carmo Church at 6:00 p.m., will be dedicated to the "Great Periods of the History of Music", highlighting the Baroque period in Johann Sebastian Bach's work of musical genius.
The Orquestra Clássica do Sul, under the direction of maestro Rui Pinheiro, will interpret two works that mirror the activity of the German composer, divided between sacred and profane music.
To begin with, "Orchestral Suite No. 3", which begins with all the splendor that characterizes the Baroque period and includes the famous "Aria" for strings, followed by "Magnificat", one of the pinnacles of religious music of all times.
To perform this work, Orquestra Clássica do Sul invited one of the ensembles of reference in the portuguese choral scene, Grupo Vocal Olisipo, who will share the stage with the musicians of the orchestra on this special afternoon.
The "Magnificat" is one of the three New Testament songs used in the vespers, or in the afternoon prayer, in the worship of most Christian churches as part of the Divine Office.
The tickets have the unit value of 12 euros and can be purchased at the venue of the event on the day of the show from 17:00 and through the online box office.
