The Municipality of Albufeira has joined the European Heritage Days, which take place from 25 to 27 September, with a special program of activities at the Castle of Paderne. It is a partnership with the Regional Directorate of Culture of the Algarve and the Cineclube of Faro, and the activities are part of the cultural program DiVaM – Dynamization and Valorization of Monuments, which this year marks its 7th edition, dedicated to the theme “Rights Rights, Equality and Non-Discrimination ”, which explores the relationships between two great universes – Heritage and Education. The theme aims to raise awareness of the role of education in heritage and the role of heritage in education, namely the richness and complexity of monuments, landscapes, games, museums or archaeological sites, among other aspects.
Within the scope of the program, from 25 September to 18 October, Albufeira hosts the “Oficina das Igualdades in Paderne”. According to the Cineclube de Faro (Training Commission) “it is intended to convene two groups of local participants (kids and adults) to discover a path that will lead them to the exploration of humanistic values and the identity of the concept of freedom (religious, expression, ideological). The starting point will be the historical heritage associated with the castle of Paderne and the film and book of the same name The profet, proposing as a point of arrival the creation of an original text prepared by the participants ”.
Tomorrow, September 25th, at 10:30 am, the Workshop begins with a guided visit to the Castle of Paderne / visit of historical exploration. The following week, on Wednesday, the 30th, also at 10:30 am, a cinema session is scheduled, aimed at school students, with the viewing of the film The profet by Roger Allers and Gaetan Brizzi. The action takes place in the Castle, starting at 10:30 am, and kids and adults can participate. On October 18, at 5 pm, the “O Mundo na nossa Aldeia” initiative begins. Every week, in the space of the Grupo Coral da Banda Filarmónica de Paderne, a group of people from six different countries: Germany, England, Barbados, Portugal, the Netherlands and Ireland meet to sing. They unite the taste for music and also the love of the land that everyone chose to live. The program integrates chorus performance with capella, followed by oriental dance and ends with “The real Band” – traditional songs.
