After three matches, the 2020/2021 edition of the Honor Division of the Football Association of Coimbra (AFC) changed its format. The biggest competition in football in Coimbra will be played in two phases, with the 1st with just one lap and the 2nd with the qualification of champion for the six best teams in the 1st phase.
The decision was announced yesterday and refers to a consultation with the clubs that took place between November 26 and December 3, with six competitive models proposed for voting.
"The competitive model that received the most support from clubs was model C," AFC announced in a statement.
To the DIARY AS BEIRAS, the president of the AFC management explained that “of the 18 participating clubs, nine chose this model, so the trend was very clear”.
A change motivated “by the fact that there were stops in the beginning of December, after the start of the event was postponed, which meant that the days were already entering in July and there was no room for further postponements. That is why it was necessary to shorten some days of the race ”, explained Horácio Antunes.
According to the extraordinary regulation now drafted, the test will resume on January 10 with the 1st round, which should have happened on November 1 and was postponed, remember, following the first ban on movement between municipalities decreed, between October 30th and November 3rd.
The 2nd, 3rd and 4th days have already been held, remember, and will be counted. The race continues on January 17th with the 5th round.
