The average global / fourth occupancy rate in Algarve hotels in April was 68.4%, up 12.1% on that of the same month of 2018, justified by Easter and school holidays, AHETA announced today.
"The results of the month of April were influenced by the Easter date this year, namely the fact that the school holidays were in April instead of March," the Algarve Association of Hotels and Tourist Enterprises explained in a statement.
The main contributors to the increase were Spanish (+ 105%), Portuguese (+ 39.7%) and British (+ 9.9%).
On the other hand, the French (-32.0%) and Dutch (-18.9%) markets were the ones with the largest declines.
Sales volume increased by 9% compared to the same month of the previous year.
According to AHETA, since the beginning of the year, the occupancy rate of rooms has registered an average increase of 4.2%.
