Lucas Lucco is passing through Lisbon for intense days of concerts, the first on Portuguese stages. The singer's debut will be this Thursday, at the Coliseu dos Recreios, in Lisbon. Then, head north in the country for a show at Guimarães Multiusos on Saturday.
With one of the sold out dates and the huge wave of affection received from the Portuguese public, the singer was deeply honored to be able to go on stage to "externalize the happiness of traveling more than 10 hours and have people here who want to hear it."
On the eve of the first concert, he talked to the Fame By The Minute to confess to us how much he is passionate about our country and has revealed to us if his romanticism is at the level of the lyrics of his songs.
Is this your first time coming to Portugal?
I've come three times, but this is the first time to do a show. I came four and a half years ago to publicize my work, I was starting my career. Then I came to participate in the song with Mickael Carreira.
What impressions do you have of our country?
Master. For me, I would split easily between Brazil and Portugal. I love the climate, the people, the treatment of people, of cities. I got to visit Sintra which is an amazing place.
I want to express my gratitude to the Portuguese public, to express this happiness of traveling more than 10 hours and to have people here who want to hear my workWhat can you tell us about these shows that will mark their debut on the Portuguese stages?
They are very special shows in which I want to express my gratitude to the Portuguese public, to express this happiness of traveling more than 10 hours and to have people here who want to hear my work. I will bring a repertoire with both older songs and more current songs. In Brazil we are more in the habit of doing a tour with the newest songs, so here I will have the opportunity to do a more complete show. And I'm going to pre-premiere my new show that I'll debut in Brazil on the 30th.
You know there are lots of fans on Portuguese soil …
Thank God. I'm realizing that now. The success of the shows, for the sale of tickets, is incredible. For me this is a cause for great gratitude.
What are the main differences between the Portuguese and Brazilian audiences?
I can only feel it at the shows. But when the artist truly delivers to the public there is a real energy exchange, there is that feeling of joy, of being able to be on stage doing what I love.
I do not feel any weight of responsibility because I love doing it, I look very lightly. I almost looked like a jokeLike the 'funk', the sertanejo is also 'breaking down barriers' and expanding beyond Brazil. Being one of the most vocal names of this musical style, what have been the biggest challenges?
Challenges are great for us to do differently, to do better. I do not feel any weight of responsibility because I love doing it, I look very lightly. I look almost like a joke. Crossing the ocean to come and sing here is … incredible.
One of the highlights of his career was the release of the sizzling videoclip with Pabllo Vittar. How did you deal with this boom?
Before I knew Pabllo's work, I already knew her because we lived almost in the same region. She was a fan of her work. After we made this song, it was the realization of a collaboration that I really wanted to do. Pabllo is a great artist. For me it was one of the most beautiful music videos I've ever done. It was incredible, a milestone in my career.
Is the singularity of an artist also related to going against what is politically correct?
Nor is it against the politically correct. I always liked to renew my work and nothing better than collaborations, this is part of the unexpected.
A man has to have romanticism, but I think women do not like an extremely romantic man. I think everything that is too much, tires The sertanejo themes are mainly about love and suffering. In real life, is Lucas Lucco a romantic man?
I will not say that I am as romantic as my songs because they are very romantic indeed. But I am a mixture of the two. A man has to have romanticism, but I think women do not like an extremely romantic man. I think everything that is too much, tires.
Do you feel that it reaches the heart of the fans more easily through the lyrics of your songs?
Exactly. For example, my last release, the theme 'Aham', was very successful because it is a romantic ballad. I have this opportunity to be versatile. The public expects everything from me.
As he mentioned, in October of last year he released the song 'Let Me Go' with Mickael Carreira. How was this experience?
I met Mickael four and a half years ago and was the first Portuguese artist I ever met. After three years he found a song, 'Let Me Go', and decided to call me. And I came, it was an honor for me. The music video was really cool.
Would you like to do more duets with other Portuguese artists?
I accompany the work of Aurea, I think very beautiful. There are some Portuguese artists that I listen to in Spotify and I might go back to some shows.
After this experience, do you plan to return to Portugal soon?
For sure. As soon as they call me, I'm back.
