The Immortal Basket concluded yesterday the regular phase of the Basketball Placard League in the 3rd place, after having won at home, in the last round, FC Porto, making an appointment in the playoff with Lusitânia.
In Albufeira, the team coached by Luís Modesto got the better of the Porto players, in a match that was decided after extra time (99-95).
The Algarves started the game better and the interval won by 46-41. At the start of the third period, FC Porto came in stronger and, through a 20-30 split, moved to the front of the game (66-71), which would only be resolved after extra time.
After the extra five minutes were played, Immortal added his 20th victory in the competition (in 26 games).
DJ Fenner (31 points and 6 rebounds), António Monteiro (21 points and 5 rebounds), Tanner Omlid (17 points and 7 rebounds) and Ty Toney (14 points and 6 assists) were the most inspired Algarve players.
Imortal, a finalist who won the Portuguese Cup, finished the best regular phase in his history in 3rd place, with 46 points, three behind the leader Sporting.
In the quarter-finals of the playoff, Imortal will face Lusitânia (6th place, 43 points) to the best of five games. In the event of a triumph, the Algarve will face the winner of the elimination FC Porto-CAB Madeira.
